Class Schedules and Prices

All classes at the Carranza Academy of Languages are real classes, conducted in real time by a live professor.

Whether you take group or individual classes, you will meet and come to know your instructor.

All classes are immersion classes, taught almost exclusively in Spanish. This will not be a problem for you but an advantage – you will learn more quickly. English is our reference language and some of the materials are written partially or wholly in English. And your professor can answer your questions in English. But you will need very little English if you complete the Basic 1, A1.1 program.

But diving right in and beginning to swim is the fastest way to become fluent in a language.

All materials are provided at no additional charge.

Group classes

Individual, one-on-one classes are great. You get 100% of your professor's time and attention. And together you can create a totally customized learning program just for you.

But we recommend you seriously consider group classes.

Group classes are better in several ways

You will learn a lot from your classmates, especially in listening to their pronunciations, considering their questions, responding to their reactions and – not to be overlooked – having time to collect yourself before your next turn speaking. For the latter reason, group classes are a little more relaxed.

Group classes are usually more fun and speaking in front of the group will help you overcome any stage fright you might have about speaking Spanish in public. The ability to communicate orally with other Spanish speakers is one of the most important skills you will acquire on your journey to becoming fluent in Spanish. Group classes will really help.

You get the benefit of learning as a team with your fellow classmates; this can be really helpful if you make it work for you. Every student in a group will have access, via a private chat page, to their classmates. You can study together, practice together, encourage one another, discuss any classroom issues. Participation in these chats is not mandatory and none of your classmates will have access to your personal information, just your classroom name.

Although each class is necessarily the same for every student in the group, you and your instructor will interact personally to make sure that your needs are being met, that you are keeping up, that you receive coaching if you are having problems, that you have the materials that suit your learning style. We are committed to providing Spanish Your Way for every student.

All group classes are limited to no more than six students; you won't get lost in a crowd.

And most important for many, group classes are substantially less expensive

Pricing

Standard pricing for group classes is US $15 per class and includes all materials.

For a limited time, we are offering a special price, for new students.

US $12 per class

and, better still, if you bring a friend,

US $10 per class per student.

Eleven classes for the price of ten.

These offers require the purchase of ten-class packages. And each package includes an eleventh class free (for new students only).

A second free class is included in Basic Spanish, Level A1.1 if you sign up for the full sixteen-class program; 14 classes for the price of 16.

All enrollments require payment in advance.

Schedules

Levels

We are presently scheduling classes in Introductory Spanish, levels A1.1 and A1.2, and pre-intermediate Spanish, levels B1.1 and B1.2.

A1.1 includes 16 classes.
A1.2 includes 12 classes.
A2.1 includes ___ classes.
A2.2 includes ___ classes.
B1.1 includes ___ classes.

Group classes at higher levels – intermediate and advanced – are available on request, subject to demand.

If you are confident that you know the level where you want to start, that's great. Go on to registration where you can find a class schedule that works for you.

If you are uncertain, try the following steps.

First, take a look at the syllabuses; they might have the answer.

Second, if you ask, we will send you a brief questionnaire that will enable us to help you determine your starting level.

If you are still unsure, we can schedule an interview with a professor for you to discuss your starting point.

Frequency

We schedule classes at three levels of frequency.

Intensive – 5 days per week, Monday through Friday.
Relaxed – 3 classes per week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Casual – 2 classes per week, Tuesday and Thursday

Other levels of frequency can be arranged on request, subject to demand.

For students in a hurry, you can design with us a customized program with multiple classes every day. For a maximum-speed program we recommend three hours in the morning, a three or four hour break and two hours in the late afternoon or evening. The pacing is up to you.

We will work with you to design a quick-learn schedule with multiple classes every day. Ordinarily, these will be individual classes but, if there is demand, we can also schedule a complete learning program for a group (for example, employees or family and friends).

We can create custom programs for organizations – businesses, NGOs, or governments – planning to send a group of employees to Latin America or Spain. For information see Spanish for Business.

New group classes begin every Monday (or Tuesday).

There are some holidays and vacations. There is a schedule of holidays through spring 2022 available here.

And there are a few weeks we do not begin new classes.

When you register, we will send you an exact schedule for the class (times and dates) you choose.

Class times

Each class begins on the hour and ends 50 minutes later.

Classes are offered at four different times each day. To see class times in your local time zone .

Note that the time-zone tables are for summer time (where applicable) or in your local time if your location does not observe summer time. Group classes at other times can be scheduled on request, subject to demand.

New group classes begin every Monday (or Tuesday) for both A1.1, A1.2, B1.1 and B1.2.
